About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and accredited Exercise Physiologist to join our Residential Care team. As part of a multidisciplinary team, this role presents a great opportunity to design and deliver health and exercise programs for Southern Cross Care customers that help them achieve their goals.

Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to;

• Ensuring the delivery of high quality health and wellness services, undertaking holistic health and wellness assessments as well as screen and set goals to identify the needs of each customer.
  
  
• Using best practice, evidence-based tools to plan and deliver high quality, tailored individual and group exercise services.
  
  
• Taking a proactive approach in supporting and enabling customers to access services that maximise their independence and improve and maintain their health, wellness and quality of life.
  
  
• Utilising your broad knowledge and understanding of the effects of exercise interventions in managing chronic and complex clinical presentations, you will also be responsible for leading others and providing direction to staff, volunteers and students.
  
  

Overall, you will strive to empower customers to set and achieve meaningful goals to improve their physical function and quality of life, and support the delivery of early intervention programs that ensure customers at risk of frailty are identified early and are supported to bounce back.

About you

We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience;

• Accredited Exercise Physiologist registered with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
  
  
• Demonstrated experience in exercise prescription for older adults including embracing the principles of Healthy & Active Ageing to improve health, wellness and quality of life.
  
  
• Strong decision making and problem resolution skills.
  
  
• Knowledge and capacity to practise according to the ESSA Scope of Practice for AEPs and the ESSA Code of Professional Conduct and Ethical Practice.
  
  
• Customer service-oriented skills with the commitment to delivering person-centred care.
  
  
• In addition to sound clinical abilities, you will be capable of participating in planning to achieve business goals and bring a positive attitude towards change management and team development.
