About the role

The role is responsible for delivering high quality health and fitness services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking clinical assessments, screening, and goal setting.
  • Planning and delivering high quality individual and group exercise services tailored to customer needs, using best practice, evidence-based tools.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to maximise customer independence, improve health, and achieve goals.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of health literacy and health promotion programs.
  • Ensuring high quality services through continuous quality improvement.

About you

  • Qualifications: Must be an Accredited Exercise Physiologist registered with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
  • Experience: Open to both new graduates and  experienced clinicians .
  • Skills: Well-developed technical skills to design, implement, and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for older people. This includes the ability to monitor and take action regarding adverse signs during exercise, teach and motivate clients using behaviour change models, and work autonomously.
  • Knowledge: Broad knowledge of the effects of exercise interventions in managing chronic and complex clinical presentations. Knowledge and capacity to practise according to the ESSA Scope of Practice and understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards. 
  • Desirable Requirement: Experience working with older people in a community setting
