About the role

This role supports the greater SCC Property portfolio with maintenance duties, projects, new constructions, Capital works, and infrastructure improvements. The role focuses on delivering quality, affordable, and well-maintained repairs and improvements across all sites, ensuring compliance with standards and resident satisfaction.

The position requires participation in on-call requirements and Interstate travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:

• Maintenance Services & Project Support:
  • Provide effective preventative maintenance services and inspections annually, ensuring 100% compliance with trade and legal restrictions.
  • Complete general maintenance (e.g., painting, carpentry, plumbing) and general repairs to fixtures, fittings, furniture, equipment, and appliances within agreed time frames.
  • Liaise with external contractors, assist the Property team with minor projects (scoping, quoting, site supervision), and support budget allocations.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call or emergency call-outs.
• Compliance and Standards:
  • Ensure all legislative and compliance requirements are met, including Fire Safety, Water Management, Safety and Security, and SCC policies.
  • Apply Aged Care Standards to relative sites and projects and partake in accreditation audits.
  • Accurately maintain relevant records for preventative and remedial maintenance.

About you

• Experience: Building maintenance (trade or handyman services), minor project management (scoping, reporting, contractor supervision), working within legislative/compliance requirements, and customer service skills.
• Skills: Ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines, follow policies, sound interpersonal skills, team building, and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Knowledge: General knowledge of Building or facilities maintenance requirements (including BCA/NCC or AUS/NZS Standards and codes) and a basic knowledge of the Aged Care Standards.
• Qualifications: Nil (Trade qualifications; Cert III or Higher is desirable).
