Permanent Full Time Position - 76 hours per fortnight
About the role
The Property Maintenance Officer is responsible for both remedial and preventative maintenance across the Southern Cross Care property portfolio. The position reports to the Asset & Maintenance Manager and aims to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for residents.
The role will also necessitate on-call duties as directed.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct annual preventative maintenance inspections and perform general building duties, including plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
- Undertake capital and repair projects and liaise with external contractors as directed.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call roster when required.
- Ensure compliance with legislative standards, including fire safety, water management, and workplace health and safety (WHS) protocols.
- Maintain accurate records, participate in quality measurement activities, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive work environment, support new team members, and engage in professional development.

About you
- Experience & Qualifications: Experience in building maintenance, handyman services, project scoping, and regulatory compliance is required. Trade qualifications are considered desirable.
- Skills & Knowledge: Candidates need strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work autonomously, and knowledge of building maintenance standards (e.g., BCA/NCC). Basic knowledge of aged care and retirement living standards is also required.
