About the role

The role's purpose is to support high-quality catering services by undertaking general catering duties as part of the catering services team, adhering to relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting in the preparation, cooking, dispatching, and serving of meals for residents, visitors, and functions while maintaining safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
• Performing general kitchen duties and ensuring economical use of materials and equipment, reporting any defects.
• Communicating effectively with staff, residents, visitors, and the public.
• Working as an effective team member, assisting others, promoting a positive work environment, guiding new team members, and attending meetings and training.
• Complying with Food Safety and HACCP standards, Southern Cross Care policies, and participating in quality assurance activities.
• Maintaining accurate records, including temperature monitoring.
• Adhering to WHS requirements, reporting for duty unimpaired, using provided WHS equipment, following instructions, and reporting hazards or incidents.

• Experience in the preparation, delivery and serving of meals
• Experience working within legislative and other compliance requirements
• Able to build strong internal relationships and contribute to the team to foster positive working relationships.
• Demonstrate respect for co-workers and be approachable and helpful at all times.
• Ability to fit the work culture and a commitment to SCC’s Values & “Better for life” model
• Relevant qualification in Health Support Services and / or Food Safety is desirable, but not essential.
